Delfin Translations

  • What They Do : Translate business documents from Spanish to English

https://www.delfintranslations.com/Delfin (dolphin in English) Translations features a graphic of a dolphin jumping through a hoop. The dolphin transitions from teal to coral — a colorful expression of translating Spanish into English. The light typeface contrasts with the heavy, all-caps typeface to suggest the final outcome is well-structured and solid.

  • What They Do : Online community of researchers specializing in the disorder of schizophrenia.

The brightly colored image of a brain scan was used as the foundation for designing materials for SRF. The overall look was developed to express the professionalism as well as the optimism for research on this chronic and severe mental disorder.

  • What They Do : Leadership Alliance is a consortium of colleges and universities that train, mentor and inspire underserved students to pursue professional research-based careers.

Overview of programs, workshops, training, research opportunities and annual conference represented within a theme of “Emerging Scholars Transforming the Future.”

  • What They Do : A clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of novel therapies to treat orphan diseases such as cardiopulmonary indications.

The creative strategy was to highlight the lab’s focus to improve pharmacokinetics to allow for more convenient dosing regimens. This included working with appropriate color palette, imagery and typography to capture a technology that extends the circulating half-life of proteins and peptides and also provides a sustained-release mechanism.

  • What They Do : The Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM) supports and broadens the relationship between mathematics and computation through mathematical tools, research and innovation.

A clean, sophisticated color palette, composition and format was needed to present an overview of these highly accomplished academic programs that are organized around some of the most cutting edge theories of Mathematics and computing.

Rhode Island League of Cities & Towns

  • What They Do : RILC&T is an association that represents municipal government interests before the state legislature.

The annual conference of the RILC&T required a creative approach that touched on many concerns for the future. A design composed of a word cloud and icons captured the variety of important issues addressed during the conference.

  • What They Do : A clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of novel therapies to treat orphan diseases such as cardiopulmonary indications.

The guiding creative behind the logo design was that their research can result in longer exposure of active molecules from a single injection. The characters in PHASE appear to be sliced as if by a syringe. The gradient at the bottom half represents the active ingredient and the added terminals suggest the long-lasting dosage.

Capital Homes

  • What They Do : Capital Homes is a  home builder in Owasso, Oklahoma, that constructs affordable homes without sacrificing quality craftsmanship, energy-efficiency, or aesthetics.

Starting with a logo re-design and moving on to update the overall visual elements of their brand, the culmination was a guide that addresses everything from color palette to typography.

Mathematical Sciences Institutes Diversity Initiative

  • What They Do : MSIDI is a collaboration dedicated to increasing the participation of underrepresented groups in the mathematical sciences.

Using the letter “D” as a starting reference, it was broken up and redefined by abstract mathematical shapes including brackets, ellipses and quadrants. The bright colors call attention to the concept of diversity.

Owasso Land Trust

  • What They Do : Owasso Land Trust sells commercial office space, warehouse facilities and locations for retail storefronts.

OLT needed a template that could accommodate the variety of properties they handled and would visually “sit together” as professional marketing pieces that could be printed or downloaded as a PDF.

Cure Alliance

  • What They Do : Cure Alliance is dedicated to advocating for scientific research in mental illness.

Cure Alliance seeks to educate the public and policymakers about mental illnesses. This called for a color palette and layout system that created an optimistic introduction into this often misunderstood illness. Soft focus partially-cropped photos humanizes the unknown aspects of mental illness.

The John Carter Brown Library

  • What They Do : The John Carter Brown Library is an independently administered and funded center for advanced research in history and the humanities.

The heart of the library is a renowned collection of primary historical sources pertaining to North and South America before ca. 1825. Therefore presenting the library in a classic and sophisticated light required imagery, colors, fonts and structure that called attention to the rare books, manuscripts, and secondary materials in its collection.

  • What They Do : RILC&T is an association that represents municipal government interests before the state legislature.

Facing the unique challenges of the pandemic cities and towns in Rhode Island, being a coastal state, opted for a nautical theme for their annual conference which was held virtually. The concept of a lighthouse navigating ship to shore because of turbulent seas captured both a sense of guidance and optimism for communities.

The 2020 Annual Report is an interactive ePub that includes video, audio, and animation. This publication covered the first year of the pandemic and their first-ever online ZOOM symposium. Some of the animated graphics express the resilience of this educational and mentoring organization with fades, moving elements and graphics that grow and transform.
